She was kept in a compound for 17 years of her life. Circumstances are different in this season. Cut Korra some slack. Imagine if you were kept in the same place your whole life, and was then thrown into a situation like Republic City. I also disagree with this one. Aang was i a relationship ish with Katara and he only once let that get in between his duty as the Avatar but that's because Katara was dying and he'd rather save her and wait for another time to master the Avatar state Mako was never really in any life or death situations but almost all of her energy was focused on him, it was ridiculous.
She was going to Pema for relationship advice more than she went to Tenzin for airbending advice! And she does give attitude, yes this isn't as big a problem but it's still pretty annoying.
And no she didn't really have to work for anything, and that's not cool. Aang had to work for literally everything; food, shelter, and people to teach him bending, and he accomplished so much. Korra was way to sheltered. I don't care if she was in a compound, she still could have worked for things. Even Mako can get some slack from me; at least they guy worked for his shelter.
I would also realize that this is what I was trained for and actually be prepared to fulfill my responsibilities. If you want to question my honesty, I would say take a look at my school life, but that's kind of personal.
Lastly she complains about how much being a nonbender sucks in front of a nonbender! For this I'll take a comment from one of the tumblr confessions poll again the confession stating 'Why do people judge Korra so harshly for being upset about losing her bending? Losing her bending in her mind was failing in her role as the Avatar. I judge her harshly because she acted like she lost all of her bending, it could be worse, at least she had her airbending.
I also judge her harshly because she was complaining about how bad it was to be a nonbender right in front of a nonbender, and that's just rude. I know they aren't the same person but Lin didn't complain and she had no bending.

Which would mean he most likely witnessed them being burnt to death as a young child. After that, he and his brother became orphans and were cast away on the streets living day to day trying to make as much money as they can to survive. Since Bollin was the younger bro, Mako basically became a sort of a "parent" figure to him. He had to take care of Bollin and himself which would mean no one to truly care for him. This led to them joining the traid to survive which led to some nasty dealings, kids of Mako and Bollin's age shouldn't have to face.
It is not too hard to see why Mako is a jerk or a douchebag.. If you were in his shoes, I am sure you would be fucked up one way or another. Last edited: Jun 26, Nimander I has it. Friday What the stuff? He wasn't relevant to the main plot at all, nor was his past developed further than to give him a pity story to excuse his harshness towards Korra in the beginning. Plus he was treating his girlfriend like she didn't even exist when her whole life was going down the drain Asami's issues mattered more than Korra's, which we didn't even see him pay any attention to. He was just a badly written character just for the sake of having a firebending love interest in the story.

But besides that, his character barely had lines, nor any relevance to the plot. He was just there. Tenzin's kids were cute and fun, and reminded us a lot of Aang. I'm not saying it's not gonna get better in season 2, but by the end of season 1 in A:TLA, the three members of Team Avatar were lovable and developed to some extent.
